Firefighters Rescue Blind Dog That Fell Down 15-foot Hole At Lake Avenue Construction Site

Pasadena firefighters rescued a blind dog that fell into a hole at a Pasadena construction site on Tuesday night.

The dog, Cesar, fell into the 15-foot deep hole on N. Lake Avenue near Boylston Street where a Chick-Fil-A restaurant is being built around 7 p.m.

The dog, who lives nearby with his owner,  wandered through an opening in the construction fencing and fell into the hole.

A Pasadena Fire Dept. search and rescue team responded to the scene and used a series of ropes and pulleys to lower one team member into the hole, according to a news report.

The Pasadena firefighters were backed by units from Arcadia, Monrovia and Glendale.

“After a quick investigation of the situation, it was confirmed that one canine fell into an approximate 15-foot hole dug near a trench,” according to Public Information Officer Lisa Derderian. “The canine was rescued from the whole in roughly 13 mins. from point of contact. After the rescue, the canine was assessed, declared uninjured, and returned to the owner.”

Cesar shook off the dirt and dust as he was reunited with his owner and posed for a group picture with firefighters after the rescue.
