Pet Care Taking Care of Freshwater Fish at Home Based on personal experiences as a self-taught fish keeper BY GABRIEL APOLONIO Published on Monday, September 5, 2022 | 8:30 pm Probably most of us are just staying home during the height of the pandemic, which is boring and may even result to mental stress. A lot of people chose to keep pets. including me. It gave us a form of diversion and companionship from another living being. I decided to take care of fish, I thought of an aquarium with assorted species. I chose which fish would generally be peaceful within their aquarium community. The aquarium inhabitants consist of the silver arowana, angel fish, janitor fish, silver dollar, feather fin catfish, apple snails and the Hi Fin paroon shark (Giant pangasius). It is important that we consider the size of the aquarium before we purchase the fish. The aquarium should be spacious for each inhabitant to allow them to move around without hindrance as limited space will result in stunted growth. There should be proper filters and water skimmers placed, this will help make your fish happy and healthy. Their food varies from the regular fish pellets and worms. I recommend that you purchase the fish when they are still young and same sizes as it helps them create some sort of community (they get used to having other fish living with them) and they won’t be aggressive with their co-inhabitants.
