Events Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run Bounces Back to Life Fundraising event, ‘paws-ed’ for the pandemic, draws 1,200 to Brookside Park, and raises nearly $250,000 for Pasadena Humane Society By EDDIE RIVERA, Editor, Weekendr Magazine Published on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 | 3:24 pm Following a two-year absence, the Pasadena Humane Society’s “Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run” fundraising event returned to Brookside Park at the Rose Bowl on Sunday, drawing more than 1,200 participants and raising nearly $250,000 for the non-profit animal shelter and resource organization. The yearly event — clearly a favorite for both two-legged and four-legged participants — featured a run and walk around the full 3.5 mile loop around the Rose Bowl Stadium or a shortened one-mile course in Brookside Park itself. The pets could admire a Pasadena police canine performing a demonstration, watch their owners try to relax a bit some “restorative yoga,” and compete with each other for the best doggy costume. Walkers and runners and their pets also availed themselves of pet adoptions, food trucks and dozens of pet care booths, from pet foods to pet health products, as well as an animal costume contest and a doggie obstacle course. “We are just so thrilled to be back,” said Humane Society spokesperson Kevin McManus, “and we are really happy with the turnout from our friends and supporters.” McManus also said that the event, which has been held for more than 20 years, was such an unexpected success after being dark for two years that the Humane Society is considering bringing back the next one early, in spring of 2023, as opposed to next September.
